Job Summary
The IT Systems Administrator participates in the implementation, maintenance and support of automated networked processing systems and their components or other information technologies. The incumbent performs and coordinates with ITCS teams, schedules installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages and ensures in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. In addition, this position evaluates and manages software and hardware solutions to ensure workstation/server data integrity, monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance level.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Installing and maintaining system hardware and operating systems by performing optimization, configuration and updates to systems and monitoring system performance;
- Working with the ITCS Groups to provide hardware, software and networking solutions;
- Participating in the support and implementation of automated server environments for hardware, operating system and networking, as well as attending meetings with clients, team and other ITCS teams;
- Maintaining policies and standard procedures to increase system uptime;
- Prioritizing and resolving issues between customers and ITCS team members, utilizing problem/change management database and maintaining a history of records related documentation;
- Developing and maintaining an in depth knowledge of operating systems;
- Participating in disaster recovery planning and exercises including backup/recovery procedures and higher availability configurations;
- Monitoring security alerts and working with other staff to ensure that all appropriate patches are applied in an automated and timely fashion;
- Applying new operating software releases and patches as necessary and ensuring production availability;
- Identifying training needs and keeping current on operating system technologies;
- Performing other related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in an analytical field, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired;
- 3 years work experience with Windows systems;
- Strong organizational, collaboration and problem solving skills;
- Strong computer proficiency;
- Demonstrated initiative;
- Good communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired;
- A strong knowledge of operating systems;
- 4 years of progressively responsible experience in System Administration and Management System software.
