Set Up for Online Directory (Eudora for Windows)
Note: This page covers configuring your e-mail client to use Northwestern's Online Directory (LDAP) for Eudora. The instructions provided only cover the latest version of that particular client we support. Instructions for previous versions may be similar, but not exact.

Select Tools => Directory Services. A window similar to the following will appear:

Highlight LDAP in the Protocols field, then click the New Database... button. A window similar to the following will appear:

- Type Northwestern LDAP into the Type the name by which you would like to refer to this server. field.
- Type directory.northwestern.edu into the Host name: field.

Select the Attributes tab. A window similar to the following will appear:

- Check the Return listed attributes only checkbox.

Click the Add... button. A window similar to the following will appear:

Please use the following table as a guide for the next two steps:
Attribute Name Presented As displayname Name mail E-mail(w) ou Division telephoneNumber Phone(w) eduPersonNickname nickname postalAddress officeaddress uid netid - Type the attribute name as is listed in the table above into the Attribute Name field.

Select the corresponding name from the Presented As column from the Presented As drop-down menu.
Note: if you do not find the corresponding name in the menu, you can always type in the name.
- Select Text sting (in ASCII) from the Data Format drop-down menu.
- Click OK.
- Repeat all of step 5 for each attribute listed above.

Select the Search Options tab. A window similar to the following will appear:

- Move the Search timeout: slider to Short.
- Un-check the No Limit checkbox, then type 20 into the Maximum number of matches to return: field.
- Type dc=northwestern,dc=edu into the Search Base: field.
- Type (cn=*^0*) into the Word-wise Search Filter: field.
- Be sure that the Whole-query Search Filter field is empty.
- Click OK.
