Set Up for Online Directory (Outlook 2003)

Note: This page covers configuring your e-mail client to use Northwestern's Online Directory (LDAP) for Outlook 2003. The instructions provided only cover the latest version of that particular client we support. Instructions for previous versions may be similar, but not exact.

1. Select Tools => E-mail Accounts.... A window similar to the following will appear:

2. Check Add a new directory or address book, then click Next. A window similar to the following will appear:

3. Check Internet Directory Service (LDAP), then click Next. A window similar to the following will appear:

4. Type directory.northwestern.edu into the Server Name: field, then click More Settings.... A window similar to the following will appear:

5. Type Northwestern LDAP into the Display Name: field, then click Search. A window similar to the following will appear:

   1. Type 100 into the Specify the maximum number of entries you wish to return after a successful search: field.
   2. Type dc=northwestern,dc=edu into the Search base: field.
6. Click OK to save your changes. A window similar to the following will appear:

7. Click Next. A window similar to the following will appear:

8. Click Finish.
