Searching LDAP (Outlook 2003)
Note: This page covers configuring your e-mail client to use Northwestern's LDAP directory for Outlook 2003. The instructions provided only cover the latest version of that particular client we support. Instructions for previous versions may be similar, but not exact.
In order to use these instructions, you need to have LDAP configured first. Please see Configuring Outlook 2003 to use LDAP for more information.

Select Tools > Address Book…. A window similar to the following will appear:

Addressbook - Blank
- Select directory.northwestern.edu from the Show Names from the: drop-down menu.
- Note: You cannot type in a name to search from this window. Please follow the remaining instructions to perform a search.

Select Tools > Find…. A window similar to the following will appear:

Enter a name to search for into the First name: or Last name: fields.
Note: Do not enter a name into the Display name: field. Doing so will not give you any results.

When a search is found, a window similar to the following will appear:

Addressbook - Full
- Highlight the entry you wish to use.
- Select File > New Message if you want to send a message from the highlighed name.
- Select File > Add to Contacts if you want to add the highligted name to your contacts list.
