Migrate Eudora Data (Outlook Express)
This procedure will take you through the proper steps for migrating your Eudora messages and address book data into a pre-configured Outlook Express client. These instructions only pertain to the latest version of Outlook Express that we support, however they may be similar enough to also be appropriate for previous versions.
First time users of Outlook Express, please complete the following before migrating:
- Set-up Outlook Express. First time users need to properly configure Outlook Express to begin receiving e-mail before migrating.

There are two procedures for migrating Eudora data into Outlook Express. Please select from the list below:
Migrating Messages
Note: If Eudora is setup for using POP, you need to make sure that Eudora is set to NOT leave mail on the server. Please review Configuring Eudora for Windows to use POP to make sure that the Leave mail on server checkbox is unchecked.
- Quit out of Eudora if it is open.
- Select Start => All Programs => Outlook Express.
- Note: If you have never launched Outlook Express before you may see a window similar to the following:
Outlook Express Default Mail Check
- Uncheck the Always perform this check when starting Outlook Express checkbox.
- Click the No button. A window similar to the following will appear:
E-mail Accounts Wizard (Cancel)
- Click Cancel. A window similar to the following will appear:
Internet Connect Warning
- Click Yes. A window similar to the following will appear:
Import Outlook Mail (Cancel)
- Click Cancel. A window similar to the following will appear:
Import Wizard Warning
- Click Yes.
- Note: If you have never launched Outlook Express before you may see a window similar to the following:
- Select File => Import => Messages…. A window similar to the following will appear:

- Select Eudora Pro or Light (through v3.0), then click Next. A window similar to the following will appear:

- Click the Browse… button. A window similar to the following will appear:

- Navigate to where your mail is located.
Note: There are three possible locations for where your mail is located depending on your operating system and which version of Eudora you initially installed on your computer:
PCEUDORA Folder If you initially installed Eudora version 5.0 and below, your mail is located in a folder called PCEUDORA under the following path:
C:\NUNET\PCEUDORA\.Eudora Application Folder If you initially installed Eudora version 5.1, your mail is located in the same directory as the application under the following path:
C:\Program Files\Qualcomm\Eudora\.User Folder If you initially installed Eudora version 5.2 and above your mail is located in a folder called Eudora under the following path:
C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Qualcomm\Eudora\ where user name is the log-in name of the current user. - Select the folder, then click the OK button. A window similar to the following will appear:

- Click the Next button. A window similar to the following will appear:

- Select the All folders radio button, then click Next. A window similar to the following will appear:

- Click Finish.
Migrating the Address Book
- Select File => Import => Other Address Book…. A window similar to the following will appear:

- Select Eudora Pro or Light Address Book (through v3.0), then click Import. A window similar to the following will appear:
Import Wizard Complete
- Click OK.
