Set Up for Online Directory (Thunderbird-Win)
Note: This page covers configuring your e-mail client to use Northwestern's Online Directory (LDAP) for Thunderbird. Instructions below only cover the latest version of Thunderbird we support; instructions for previous versions may be similar, but not exact.

From the Tools menu, select Account Settings.... A window similar to the following will appear:

Select Composition & Addressing from the left-hand portion of the window. A window similar to the following will appear:

- Select the Use a different LDAP Server: radio button.

Click the Edit Directories... button. A window similar to the following will appear:

Click the Add button. A window similar to the following will appear:

- Type Northwestern into the Name: field.
- Type directory.northwestern.edu into the Hostname: field.
- Type dc=northwestern,dc=edu into the Base DN: field.

Select the Advanced tab. A window similar to the following will appear:

- Type 100 into the Don't return more than field.
- Type (objectclass=*) into the Search Filter: field.

Click OK to save. A window similar to the following will appear:

- Select Northwestern from the Select an LDAP Directory Server field.

Click OK to close the window. A window similar to the following will appear:

- Click OK to save your changes.
