Department and Organization E-mail Forwarding

NetIDs associated with these addresses do not require password changes every 120 days. E-mail to the new address is checked every time the responsible person checks his or her own mail -- no special check is required. Mail sent from the personal account may be represented as coming from the alias (using Outlook "Accounts" or Eudora "Personalities") but can be tracked back to the actual person if necessary. Use of filters is recommended to separate the incoming mail by "To" address.

Since the e-mail is only accessible to one person, the e-mail address entry in the directory must be modified to direct mail to another person during vacations. This can be done by an an additional editor on the Edit Directory Information page on the NUIT Web site.

Creation of a forwarding e-mail address must be requested by a Dean, Director, Department Chair, or Medical School Administrator. Addresses for student organizations may be requested by the faculty or staff advisor, who should identify themselves as such. Send requests via e-mail to email-accounts@northwestern.edu.
