Collaboration Services: Importing Contacts

After setting up your mail program for Northwestern Collaboration Services, you can easily move your contacts into your new account. Then, they will also appear within the Outlook Web App (OWA).

Windows Instructions

  1. In your existing mail client, export your contacts to a comma delimited file (.csv).
  2. Launch Outlook 2010.
  3. Click the File tab.
  4. Click Open, and choose Import.
  5. In the Import and Export Wizard, choose Import from another program or file, and click Next.
  6. Choose Comma Separated Values, and click Next.
  7. Browse and select the .csv file, and click Next.
  8. Select Contacts, and click Next
    Note
    : Be sure to select the correct Contacts folder for the Exchange account. The default account name will be your @northwestern.edu e-mail address or NU Exchange.

Mac Instructions

  1. In your existing mail client, export your contacts to a tab delimited file (.txt).
  2. Launch Outlook 2011.
  3. Click File in the toolbar, and select Import.
  4. Click Contacts or messages from a text file, and click the right arrow.
  5. Click import contacts from a tab or comma delimited file, and click the right arrow.
  6. Browse to your .txt file, and click import.
  7. Click Finish.
    Note
    : Be sure to select the correct Contacts folder for the Exchange account. The default account name will be your @northwestern.edu e-mail address or NU Exchange.
