Sandra Dennhardt Scholarship

The Sandra Dennhardt Scholarship was established by Northwestern University Information Technology in 2000 to honor the memory of the late Sandra Dennhardt, former director of NUIT Management Systems.

The Dennhardt Scholarship is primarily funded by NUIT, with contributions from family and friends, and is administered through Northwestern's Center for Talent Development (CTD). The scholarship allows deserving grade school and high school students to attend CTD summer computer courses.

Young students have the opportunity to take these special courses on Northwestern's Evanston campus and prepare for advanced tracks of study in high school. The program offers encouragement for educational success, and provides increased social support through student and adult role models.

Each year, one or more Dennhardt Scholars are selected by a CTD committee from among all summer program applicants. To be considered, students must:

  • demonstrate the ability to work beyond their current grade level and to succeed in an intensive summer course;
  • be interested in and qualified for computer programming courses;
  • show significant financial need.
