Datacenter Facility Services
The central NUIT Datacenter provides server hosting for departments and schools. Services are provided at the Chicago and Evanston Datacenter locations operated by Information Technology Computing Services (ITCS).
NUIT Computing Services must approve the server's hardware and software configuration.
- Research-Specific Services — "Space-only" service for University researchers running research-specific servers.
For researchers, rack space that includes networking, HVAC, and UPS is available for research-only servers.
Features/Options
An overview of server hosting services includes space inside an equipment rack, networking, HVAC, UPS and housing in a secure location. The customer can choose from either a daily or weekly backup service for a server housed at the Datacenter. In both cases, full backup tapes are stored off-site in a secure media vault at Iron Mountain.
Technical support includes ITCS system engineering time for system monitoring plus performing operating system upgrades, patches, hardware troubleshooting, component replacement, virus definition updates, and firewall protection.
All maintenance is done during support hours; there is no assistance outside the hours of support the customer has chosen. Three levels of technical support, up to and including 24/7 support, can be purchased to suit the department's needs.
