Windows BitLocker and MBAM

Faculty and staff wanting to deploy desktop encryption should check with their local IT group for support with installing encryption software. If you do not have local IT support and want to enable desktop encryption, you will need to self-manage your computer using BitLocker.

BitLocker is used to natively encrypt the information on a Microsoft Windows computer so that unauthorized users, apps, or utilities are not able to access your information. In addition, Northwestern uses Microsoft Administration and Monitoring (MBAM) to centrally backup BitLocker Recovery Keys and provide machine reporting.
