Mac OS - FileVault & Casper

Faculty and staff wanting to deploy desktop encryption should check with their local IT group for support with installing encryption software. If you do not have local IT support and want to enable desktop encryption, you will need to self-manage your computer using FileVault.

FileVault is used to natively encrypt the information on an Apple Mac OS X computer so that unauthorized users, apps, or utilities can’t access your information. Northwestern uses JAMF Casper to centrally backup the FileVault Recovery Key and provide machine reporting.
