Symantec Encryption (formerly PGP)

PGP Whole Disk Encryption (WDE) provides protection for computers by preventing data loss with strong access control and powerful disk encryption. It is important that Northwestern University personnel storing sensitive information such as Protected Health Information (PHI), Personally Identifiable Information (PII) or research data, protect their machines and data with whole disk encryption software.

Note: Although PGP can be ran on Windows/Mac OS, Northwestern IT recommends the use of native encryption options if the machine is supported. See Windows - BitLocker/MBAM or Mac OS - FileVault 2/Casper for more details.
