E-Mail at Northwestern
Northwestern University provides faculty, staff, and students with an e-mail service, available after activating a NetID.
As a member of the Northwestern community, you receive a mailbox when you activate your NetID. Your mailbox is the key to receiving all Northwestern e-mail.
The centrally provided WebMail service enables Web-based access to an account (@northwestern.edu), which is located on one of four University central mail servers (casbah, hecky, lulu, or merle).
Eligible students have the option of activating an @u.northwestern.edu collaboration account in lieu of the centrally-provided account.
You can access your centrally provided NU e-mail account once your NetID is activated, and you can immediately begin to use NU's WebMail. WebMail requires no set-up and it's a secure and easy way to check your e-mail from anywhere: on or off campus, home, the library, etc.
Going on vacation? Faculty and staff can set a vacation message with Mail Tools.
