Vulnerability Assessment Protects University Data
November 2007

Technology-related security vulnerabilities can be a complex and overwhelming problem, and the protection of University and personal data is critically important. New tools from NUIT are helping schools and departments uncover and solve these issues.
The NUIT Information Security Vulnerability Assessment Program is a University-wide set of policies, procedures, and services to assist in the auditing, identification, and remediation of security vulnerabilities.
Specifically, the program provides a security audit of network infrastructure and all related devices. NUIT Information and Systems Security/Compliance (ISS/C) provides audits of network infrastructure, as well as an in-depth assessment of workstations, servers, and devices.
A specialized service of the program checks for vulnerabilities on school and department Web sites. The Web Services Assessment reviews for outdated software versions and other vulnerabilities and provides a remediation plan if vulnerabilities exist.
