Canvas Custom Course Sites
Custom course sites within Canvas may be created for academic and University business purposes upon request and authorization from a departmental chair, director, or dean. Course sites for most University classes are created automatically through a synchronization between CAESAR, the University's Student Enterprise System, and Canvas.
Northwestern faculty and staff can request a custom course site by completing the online Canvas Custom Course Site Request Form. Requests are reviewed to ensure that Canvas is the best place for this activity and that the purpose of the site is academic in nature. Please allow five to ten business days for completion of this request and be aware that site owners are responsible for creating and maintaining the list of users.There are alternative options for document sharing and other group collaboration functions available through Northwestern IT including, Google Apps for Education and Box. Contact the IT Support Center for other options to enhance group collaboration.
