Set Up Centrally Hosted E-mail for BlackBerry

This page provides instructions to set up your centrally hosted @northwestern.edu (Webmail) account on a Blackberry® device.

You will need Blackberry® Internet Service (BIS) before you can set up your Webmail account.  This may have been set up on your Blackberry® by your service provider at the time of purchase.

Optionally, you may wish to

  • Set your "send from" or return address on the Blackberry® device to match your alias@northwestern.edu assigned e-mail address
  • Set up a signature block on your Blackberry® for your e-mail

Visit Blackberry® Support to learn more about these options and for more device specific information.

Due to current NU restrictions on IMAP, NUIT recommends using the Mail Replication service to receive your centrally hosted e-mails on your Blackberry® . Mail replication allows you to send a copy of your e-mail to another e-mail address. Individuals with PDA that use an outside service provider can use this tool to send a copy of centrally hosted Northwestern e-mail to their PDA's e-mail address.

Setting Up Mail Replication

  1. From your desktop computer go to: http://snap.it.northwestern.edu/it/mailtools/.
  2. Enter your NetID and password.
  3. Select "Turn Mail Replication On".
  4. For the "Replication address:" enter your Blackberry® provided e-mail address, e.g. firstname.lastname@att.Blackberry® .net.
