Set Up @u.northwestern.edu for Windows Mobile
This page provides set up instructions for @u.northwestern.edu e-mail on a Windows Mobile non-touch screen device. Subtle differences in the appearance of the screen may exist depending upon the version of the Windows Mobile device being used.
- Enable IMAP in your @u account by going to Settings . Then select the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
- Check Enable IMAP, then click Save Changes.
- From the Home screen select Start.
- Select Messaging.
- Select Setup E-mail.
- Add account and select Other.
- Enter your entire @u.northwestern.edu e-mail address, and your account password (different from your NetID password).
- Select Next.
- Uncheck “Try to get e-mail settings automatically from the Internet”
- Select Next.
- Select Internet E-mail.
- Select Next.
- Enter your full name.
- Enter an account display name (e.g. @U E-mail account).
- Select Next.
- For Incoming Mail Server , enter imap.gmail.com.
- Select IMAP4 for account type.
- Select Next.
- Enter your @u.northwestern.edu e-mail address, and your account password (different from your NetID password).
- Select Next.
- For Outgoing mail server screen, enter smtp.gmail.com.
- Check “Outgoing (server requires authentication)”.
- Leave “Use the same name and password for sending e-mail” unchecked.
- Select “Advanced Server Settings”.
- Check both “Require SSL for Incoming e-mail” and “Require SSL for Outbound e-mail”.
- Select Done.
- Select Next.
- Select the appropriate interval for automatic checking of e-mail.
- Select Finish.
