Set Up Centrally Hosted E-mail for Windows Mobile

This page provides instructions to set up your centrally hosted e-mail account (Webmail) on a Windows Mobile non-touch screen device. Subtle differences in the appearance of the screen may exist depending upon the version of the Windows Mobile device being used.

  1. From the Home screen select Start.
  2. Select Messaging.
  3. Select Setup E-mail.
  4. Add account and select Other.
  5. Enter your entire @northwestern.edu e-mail address, and your NetID password.
  6. Select Next.
  7. Uncheck “Try to get e-mail settings automatically from the Internet”.
  8. Select Next.
  9. Select Internet E-mail.
  10. Select Next.
  11. Enter your full name.
  12. Enter an account display name (e.g. NU E-mail account).
  13. Select Next.
  14. For Incoming Mail Server Server (example, merle.it.nothwestern.edu).
  15. Select IMAP4 or POP4.
  16. Select Next.
  17. Enter your NetID, and your NetID password.
  18. Select Next.
  19. For  Outgoing mail server  screen,  enter  "mrjim.it.northwestern.edu"
  20. Check “Outgoing (server requires authentication)”.
  21. Check "Use the same user name and password for sending e-mail".
  22. Select  “Advanced Server Settings”.
  23. Check "Require SSL for Incoming e-mail”  and  “Require SSL for Outbound e-mail”.
  24. Select Done.
  25. Select Next.
  26. Select  the appropriate interval for automatic checking of e-mail.
  27. Select Finish.
