Set Up Centrally Hosted E-mail for Windows Mobile
This page provides instructions to set up your centrally hosted e-mail account (Webmail) on a Windows Mobile non-touch screen device. Subtle differences in the appearance of the screen may exist depending upon the version of the Windows Mobile device being used.
- From the Home screen select Start.
- Select Messaging.
- Select Setup E-mail.
- Add account and select Other.
- Enter your entire @northwestern.edu e-mail address, and your NetID password.
- Select Next.
- Uncheck “Try to get e-mail settings automatically from the Internet”.
- Select Next.
- Select Internet E-mail.
- Select Next.
- Enter your full name.
- Enter an account display name (e.g. NU E-mail account).
- Select Next.
- For Incoming Mail Server Server (example, merle.it.nothwestern.edu).
- Select IMAP4 or POP4.
- Select Next.
- Enter your NetID, and your NetID password.
- Select Next.
- For Outgoing mail server screen, enter "mrjim.it.northwestern.edu"
- Check “Outgoing (server requires authentication)”.
- Check "Use the same user name and password for sending e-mail".
- Select “Advanced Server Settings”.
- Check "Require SSL for Incoming e-mail” and “Require SSL for Outbound e-mail”.
- Select Done.
- Select Next.
- Select the appropriate interval for automatic checking of e-mail.
- Select Finish.
