Northwestern Mobile is a free downloadable app that allows you to access news, events, maps, and information from the library, athletics, and more on your mobile device.
An app, or application, is a third-party software program, or mini Web site, developed specifically for use on mobile devices. Applications can be downloaded directly by the mobile device, or downloaded to a computer and transferred to the phone. Apple has an App Store for those who want to add new features to their phone.
iPhone® or iPod touch®: To install the Northwestern Mobile app on your iPhone, visit the iTunes App Store and search for "Northwestern" – then click on "Install" (or "Free App" if you're accessing the App Store from your synced computer). Note: You must install iPhone OS 5.0 or higher.
Android Devices: To install the Northwestern Mobile app on your Android-based phone or tablet, visit Google Play from your device and search for "Northwestern." Then, click on the Northwestern app published by Northwestern University and select Install.
Other mobile devices: To access the Northwestern University website on a Windows Mobile, Palm, or any other Smartphone or web-enabled device, visit m.northwestern.edu on your device browser.
The Northwestern Mobile app can be downloaded to an iPhone or iPod touch from the iTunes App Store or from Google Play for an Android-based device. For any other web-enabled handheld device, visit m.northwestern.edu on your device browser.
The Northwestern Mobile app is free for download.
Information on the Northwestern Mobile app is available to the general public. Directory information is restricted based on the privacy settings each NetID holder establishes for him/herself. The Off-Campus Visibility field in Edit Your Online Directory allows faculty, staff, and students to select the amount of information displayed to people that have not logged into or do not have access to the NU Network.

If you are having trouble accessing Northwestern Mobile from your iPhone, be sure you have installed OS 5.0 or higher. If your iPhone is not using Version 5.0 or higher, visit http://www.apple.com/iphone/softwareupdate/ for information on how to perform the iPhone OS software update.
Follow the steps below to find your iPhone OS version.
- Locate Settings on your iPhone and open it.
- Select General.
- Select About.
- Make sure the Version is at least 3.0.
- If your iPhone is not using Version 5.0 or higher, visit http://www.apple.com/iphone/softwareupdate/ for information on how to perform the iPhone OS software update.
