Set Up an Ethernet Connection for Windows

Configure network settings to use addressing for either Dynamic Ethernet (DHCP) or Static Ethernet:

• Dynamic Ethernet (DHCP) — Use DHCP if you are accessing from a residence hall, a networked Greek house, or a public jack.
• Static Ethernet — Use static Ethernet if you are accessing from some office or lab locations.
• Change WINS configuration to DNS — Those with Windows-based networked devices configured for WINS (Windows Internet Naming Service) should reconfigure them for DNS (Domain Name Service) in anticipation of NUIT's retirement of the WINS server.
