Computer Requirements for Wireless Access

Your laptop must meet minimum requirements and be equipped with a network-compatible wireless card to connect to the "Northwestern" wireless network.

If your laptop does not meet current wireless hardware requirements, you can continue to access the "nuwlan" wireless network using VPN.

Requirements

Windows  
Operating system Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2
Update From Windows: Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2)/ Wireless Provisioning Services Information Element (WPS IE) Update
Wireless card 802.11b/g card that supports 802.1.X/WPA2
Notes Some laptops do not support WPA2, and new laptops may require an update of your wireless card drivers, an add-on card, or adapter. Contact your vendor to determine 802.1X/WPA2 compatibility.


Macintosh  
Operating system Mac OS X 10.3.3-10.3.9, or Mac OS X 10.4.2

Notes Older 802.11b-only AirPort cards are not compatible with 802.1.X/WPA2.
