Wireless Configuration Wizard for Windows
The Northwestern wireless network uses technical standard 802.1X/WPA2. Some laptops do not support WPA2, require updated drivers for your wireless card, or require an add-on card or adapter. Contact your vendor to determine your computer's wireless compatibility with 802.1X/WPA2.
How does it work?
The wireless network configuration wizard automatically enters the appropriate configuration settings to your Windows wireless client. Specifically the tool:
- Creates a new wireless network
- Enters the SSID of "Northwestern"
- Sets Network Authentication to "WPA2"
- Sets Data Encryption to "AES"
- Configures the client to use PEAP authentication.
By using the wizard instead of manual configuration, you can greatly lower the chance of mistakes that would prevent you from accessing the wireless network. If you prefer to configure your client manually, use NUIT's step-by-step instructions.
