Blocked Senders in EDS

The Blocked Senders page lists e-mail addresses that are known to distribute junk e-mail or viruses. It can be configured to block messages originating from addresses in this list. Use the Blocked Senders feature to add or delete senders from the Blocked Senders list.

If you repeatedly receive unwanted e-mail from the same individuals or organizations, you can add the e-mail addresses of the senders to the Blocked Senders list. By adding a sender to the Blocked Senders list, all messages from that sender will be quarantined, rather than being delivered to your e-mail inbox.

Important note: Occasionally the EDS filtering system will be tricked into making a "false positive," accidentally tagging a "good" message which is not actually junk e-mail at all. Since e-mail solicitors try to disguise their unwanted messages as legitimate mail, our system tries to separate good e-mail from junk e-mail--and we're 99% successful.

Add a Blocked Sender

  1. On the left navigation menu, click Blocked Senders. The Blocked Senders page is displayed.
  2. On the Blocked Senders page, in the Add Sender text box, enter the valid e-mail address of the sender you wish to block.
    • Note: Valid e-mail addresses are of the form user@host.domain (for example, fooey@junk e-mailer.com).
    • You can use the asterisk (*) as a wildcard to indicate an entire domain. For instance, adding **@hotmail.com will block any messages originating from hotmail.com from reaching your inbox.
  3. Click Add Sender. The Blocked Senders List page is displayed with the blocked sender(s) added.

Delete a Blocked Sender

If, after adding an address to your Blocked Senders list, you're looking at the messages that have been quarantined in your digest and you decide you'd like a message from a blocked sender to be sent to your inbox, you can direct the message to be sent to your inbox.

  1. On the left navigation menu, click Blocked Senders. The Blocked Senders page is displayed.
  2. In the list of Blocked Senders, under the Sender column, select the check box(es) beside the sender you want to remove from the list.
  3. Click Delete Sender. The Blocked Senders page is displayed with the sender removed from the list.
