Protect Personal and Sensitive University Data

Per University policy, it is Northwestern University's intent to protect the personal information of its students, staff, faculty and other individuals associated with the University from unauthorized access or disclosure, and possible misuse or abuse.

Sending personal and sensitive University data (e.g. SSNs) via e-mail puts the University at risk for potential exposure, creating uncontrollable security incidents.

Choose an alternative delivery method for personal and private University data:

  • Place data on a secure departmental Web page
Contact your local technical support representative for more information regarding the authentication process
  • Personally deliver information, when possible
Remember to properly shred hard copies after use
