Oracle

Oracle offers innovative software technologies for enterprise information management. NUIT's license allows new and current Oracle users to access Oracle software, maintenance, and support. Also, the Oracle Academic Initiative makes the software free for classroom use. This agreement with Oracle expires 2011.

Order

• Visit NUIT's site licensed software site to order Oracle.
• Purchase of the initial license is based on the number of months remaining in the current fiscal year and the number of databases on the server. The cost formula for 2007-2008 is: $1928 * number of databases * (number of months remaining in fiscal year/12).
• Please be aware this is not a one-time charge. Users will
  incur annual maintenance charges per database of approximately $2,000/year/database.
  

Install

• After paying, you receive a Northwestern University CPU Support Identification (CSI) number to access the OracleMetalink Web site and download software.
• You may not distribute the CSI number to anyone; treat it as a purchased University asset.
• Software must be installed on University-owned computers.

License

• The Oracle license fee is charged per server and per number of databases ; if you wish to install Oracle on a different server, or if you need to add databases to an existing server, you must either purchase a new license or update your existing license. You may run multiple instances of Oracle on the same physical server.
• Use of Oracle and the CSI is audited on a regular basis. NUIT receives reports of access to the Metalink site, and checks for copies of Oracle on the NU Network.
• You will be contacted by NUIT Administration & Finance for payment of your annual Oracle license fee in subsequent years.
• Eligible users — Licenses are available only to departments, faculty, and staff for the purpose of University-related business or research; software use is governed by the Oracle Site License Agreement.
• Home use provision — Personal or home use is not allowed for this license.
