Symantec and Norton AntiVirus is Northwestern's licensed software application for protecting your computer against viruses and other malware. It is critical that every NU student, faculty, and staff member install Symantec, update virus definitions, and run virus scans daily.

Install and License

• Please Note — If you already have an antivirus program on your computer, it can cause conflicts when you install another program. You must uninstall the current antivirus software, even if it is Symantec or Norton, before you download this version of Symantec AntiVirus.
• Licenses are available to Northwestern University faculty and staff for University-owned computers.
• Home use provision (faculty and staff) — Users may have a duplicate license of this software for one personally owned computer that is used for University purposes.
• Students may use Symantec AntiVirus on personal computers, but must uninstall it when they leave the University.
