Scheduling a Virus Scan for Windows
Step-by-step instructions on how to schedule a virus scan using Symantec AntiVirus for Windows.
- Select Start => Programs => Symantec Endpoint Protection => Symantec Endpoint Protection. A window similar to the following will appear:

- Select Scan for threats. A window similar to the following will appear:

- Click Create a New Scan. A window similar to the following will appear:

- Select the Full Scan radio button, then click Next. A window similar to the following will appear:

- Click the Centralized Exceptions button. A window similar to the following will appear:

- Click Add.. button. A window similar to the following will appear:

- Type PST into the field, then click the Add button.
- Click the OK button to close the Selected Extensions window. A window similar to the following will appear:

- Click the Close => Next button to close the Exclusions window. A window similar to the following will appear:

Select Daily under the Frequency section.

Select a time of the day when you want to perform the scan under the When section.
Note: Try to select a time when you are not using your computer (such as lunch time), otherwise you may notice that your computer is slow when scans are being run.

- Click the Next button. A window similar to the following will appear:

- Type a descriptive name for your scan into the Name: field.
- Type a description for your scan into the Description: field.
- Click Finish.
