SPSS

The SPSS software suite is a complete statistical toolkit. SPSS software modules offered for Windows and Mac operating systems include:

Order

  • Windows users — Visit NUIT Site-licensed Software to renew a license or order SPSS v16.0.1
  • Macintosh users — Visit NUIT Site-licensed Software to renew a license or order SPSS v16.0.1; Mac users should order at least one copy of the SPSS CD. NOTE: SPSS is now compatible with Intel and PPC based Macs.
  • IMPORTANT NOTICE OF A FREE VERSION UPGRADE: Please note that patches for Windows and Macintosh have been released April, 2008 which upgrade SPSS 16.0.1 to 16.0.2 to fix over 100 performance issues. Please visit SPSS for details and a download link.
  • Payment for software must be received through a CUFS account.
  • For modules not listed above, order directly from SPSS.

Install and License

  • Eligible users — This software is for use by full-time faculty and staff of Northwestern University for University purposes. Per the contractual relationship, this does not include teaching hospitals or other independent organizations affiliated with the University.
  • Software must be installed on computers owned, leased, and controlled by Northwestern University.
  • Home use provision — Software can be used by full-time Northwestern University faculty or staff on a personal computer for University purposes. To do so, a license agreement form must be completed and submitted to NUIT Site-licensed Software.
  • The license period for SPSS FY08 begins December 1, 2007, and expires November 30, 2008. Those who purchase an FY08 license will be eligible for free upgrades from the TSS server (Chocolate) until November 30, 2008. Macintosh users are required to purchase the CD.
  • Due to this renewal timetable, NUIT advises against purchasing a license in October 2008, unless project needs cannot be delayed until the new fiscal year's license availability.
