SPSS Quick Reference

What installation methods are available?

Windows users who purchase a current license may download the software from the Chocolate server or install by separately purchased media. Mac users who purchase a current license must purchase media at an additional charge in order for individuals to install the software.

If my existing license is current and a newer version of the software has been released, how may I upgrade to it, and is there a fee?

If your existing SPSS license is current and you want to upgrade to a newer version of the software, you may request your upgrade or determine eligibility by providing your prior proof of purchase or the order number, along with your NetID from your previous NUIT-purchased version, to NUIT Site-licensed Software.

Windows version upgrades can be obtained for free via the Chocolate server or though a CD purchase. Mac version upgrades can only be obtained through a CD purchase.

If you are ordering media for an upgrade, remember to handwrite your current fiscal year's license order number on the signed form before faxing.

I intend to use my SPSS software at home. Do I need to purchase anything extra?

It is recommended that users purchase a copy of the media if they want to install and run their SPSS software from home.

Where can I obtain documentation?

Manuals and documentation for Windows are available at NUIT Site-licensed Software. The product is called SPSS Media (CD) Only - Online Documentation 16.0.1 Windows. We do not offer documentation for Mac versions of SPSS.

Where can I obtain Hotfixes and/or software patches?

Please visit SPSS for details and a download link for patches and Hotfixes.

What should I do if my computer does not meet system requirements or if I have other licensing questions?

Please send your inquiries to questions@software.northwestern.edu.
