Cisco VPN Software

A VPN (Virtual Private Network) establishes a secure "tunnel" that protects you from other people trying to gain unauthorized access to the data you are sending and receiving over the Internet.

You must use VPN in order to access certain authenticated University resources from off campus. NUIT strongly recommends that VPN always be used when connecting to the NU Network from off-campus, for increased security. Windows Vista users will also need to use Cisco VPN to connect to the wireless network, as Vista's native VPN client is not compatible.

Note to travelers: Some users have experienced difficulty connecting to NUIT's VPN server using native VPN, particularly from hotels, where NAT (Network Access Translation) is often in heavy use. For installation and configuration instructions, choose the proper version of Cisco's VPN client below.
