Research Computing Support

To support exponential growth in critical Northwestern University research, development of research computing services is ongoing for large-scale, shared computer cluster systems that provide sophisticated, high-performance computational capabilities and large-scale, research data storage systems.

IT Project: Collaboration Services Initiative

After an extensive evaluation, Microsoft's market-leading family of messaging and collaboration products has been selected for University-wide deployment. The resulting system will be an integrated platform of cutting-edge tools that will provide a foundation for new collaborative practices, enhanced productivity, and regulatory compliance.

General Storage Strategy

Development of a cost-effective storage architecture will address the needs of academic, administrative, and library customers to emphasizes appropriate levels of data protection, high-availability, security, performance, and efficiency.

Information Security/Regulatory and Compliance

Develop, communicate, and support the University's information management, protection, and reporting obligations for compliance with regulatory requirements. To achieve compliance, the initiative includes contributing to the development of policy statements, business processes, and federally-defined regulatory data storage and protection guidelines.

Unified Service Center

Integration of the various University help desks will culminate with the launch of the IT Service Manager. Full implementation will facilitate a stable, robust, efficient, and customer-focused support environment, including convenient Web-based assistance and performance metrics for information technology services and enterprise systems.
