Cellular services at Northwestern are provided by cell towers in Evanston and Chicago which are maintained by local service providers including AT&T, Sprint/Nextel, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and Verizon. 

In certain locations on campus where cellular reception may be limited due to factors such as equipment compatibility and building design, NUIT partners with service providers to implement a Distributed Antenna System (DAS). The DAS provides an additional layer of service to enhance existing cellular coverage and improve cellular reception in select buildings on campus.

It has been reported that users with cell phones defaulting to AT&T’s 4G service have experienced intermittent service on campus. Users experiencing any degraded service quality should contact their carrier directly.
