What's New and Changing

UCLASS Retirement

Posted Date: 03 Dec 2007

Effective Date: 02 Jan 2008

Northwestern University Information Technology (NUIT) is retiring the UCLASS e-mail and course roster tool in favor of more capable and easier to use software within the Course Management System and CAESAR.

The UCLASS software that has served the NU community for the last ten years cannot be further developed to keep pace with the needs of University faculty and instructors. UCLASS will be removed January 2.

Impact on End User

Faculty and instructors can now use the Course Management System to send e-mail to their students. More instructions are available on the Course Management System Web page.

In addition, the CAESAR to Course Management System interface has been improved to eliminate time between class site creation and roster availability. More information on this is available on the Blackboard Instruction Guide Web page.

Faculty and instructors can also send messages to students through the CAESAR Instructor class roster page(s). This feature was added to CAESAR during the summer upgrade. Class rosters can be retrieved via CAESAR or Course Management System.
