Course Management System Lifecycle Policy to Take Effect February 1

Posted Date: 17 Jan 2008

Effective Date: 17 Jan 2008

To better streamline and improve the Northwestern University Course Management System, NUIT has implemented a system administrative Data Lifecycle Policy that will officially take effect on February 1.

Course sites that have remained in the system for longer than two years will be removed; faculty who wish to retain any older sites can contact the Course Management System team for further detail.

The removal of course sites older than two years will continue on a quarterly basis.

Impact on End User

The reduction of Course Management System data will help instructors and students more easily identify the most current course sites listed. Additionally, performance will improve as there will be less system downtime required for annual upgrades.

The Course Management System team has created a series of pages to assist instructors on how identify what course sites—if any—should stay and/or be removed from the system.

Specific instructions and more information about the Data Lifecycle Policy can be found on the Course Management System Web site.
