NUIT Increases E-mail Storage Quota

Posted Date: 13 Jul 2009

Effective Date: 22 Jul 2009

To better meet the need for higher e-mail storage limits for Northwestern University faculty and staff, Northwestern University Information Technology (NUIT) is increasing the individual quota for pending e-mail messages from 50MB to100MB, effective, July 22, 2009.

Additional disk space made available as a result of the migration of student e-mail accounts from the University's central servers (casbah, hecky, lulu, and merle) has allowed NUIT to facilitate this change.

Impact on End User

NUIT is providing this service enhancement free of charge.

University faculty and staff who use less than 60MB of e-mail storage will notice no change to their e-mail operations.

Users will receive auto generated warning notices when their e-mail storage limit approaches 60MB, 80MB and 100MB. Archiving of messages will begin at 200MB and will be held for a period of 120 days.

Archived messages can be restored from backup storage for a period of 120 days.
