Effective Date: 27 Oct 2009
Northwestern University Information Technology (NUIT) is pleased to announce the launch of a new media management system called Media Space. The service enables University instructors to convert captured video and audio content into digital formats for delivery over the Internet where it can be shared with members of the Northwestern community or viewed by external audiences.
The Web-based enterprise platform was developed by NUIT Academic & Research Technologies (A&RT) to provide a uniform campus-wide solution for distributing media for the purpose of furthering teaching, research, and public communication efforts that support the mission of the University.
Media Space features include:
- Accepts a variety of video and audio formats
- Secure delivery of media content to CMS course sites
- No special software for media audiences required
- Content accessible through mobile devices for on-the-go learning
- Media owners and end-users can easily identify items in collections
Impact on End User |
An account must be established for users to store, manage, and organize collections of video and audio clips. Once established, users may access the user interface and begin building Collections of video and audio resources.
NUIT A&RT Faculty Support Services will host two Media Space information sessions, one on Wednesday, October 28 (Evanston Campus) and another Tuesday, November 3 (Chicago Campus). Registration is recommended.
