Improved High-Speed Data Storage for University Researchers

Posted Date: 22 Aug 2016

Effective Date: 23 Jun 2016

As part of the Quest High Performance Computing maintenance performed in June, Northwestern Information Technology (IT) combined the Vault Supplementary and Vault High Performance Computing Storage service into one high-speed storage repository now called, Quest Storage.

Benefits to Researchers

Northwestern IT made this change because the technology supporting data storage has become more efficient and the cost to store data has substantially reduced since the Vault storage service was first introduced to the University four years ago.

End User Impact

New and existing researchers may request Quest Storage (up to 2 TB) through the Quest Allocation and Proposal process.

Researchers may also purchase storage at a rate of $355/TB for the use of 5 years.
