Cable TV in Greek Housing
NUIT has contracted with the City of Evanston cable TV franchise operator (i.e., local cable provider) to provide fraternities and sororities with TV service. Significant restrictions and conditions apply and not all houses will qualify without installation work.
The fraternity/sorority cable TV offering provides the following services:
- Over 40 channels in the standard offering
- For an extra monthly fee per channel, add up to four premium channels. The channel(s) subscribed to may be changed at the start of each academic quarter.
- A ten dollar ($10) per cable tap credit against installation charges, not to exceed the actual charges.
Conditions for service installation:
- All sleeping rooms (except group sleeping areas) must be wired with at least one TV outlet. Other rooms, including common areas, may be wired.
- ALL TV outlets within the house must receive the service and will be counted in computing the monthly fee charged.
- All TV outlets receive the identical service (i.e. same channels).
- Each resident of the house must have a signed Telecommunications Use Agreement on file with NUIT.
- The house corporation must pay for any and all installation costs levied by NUIT or the cable TV franchise operator in order to bring the TV network to the house.
- The house corporation will be billed each month for the recurring charges through the same method used for telephone charges.
- The TV service is present year-round (i.e. it cannot be suspended during summer months).
- Any existing DBS reception services must be removed from the house.
Cost
$15.49 per TV outlet per month
The house must be wired to NUIT specifications for voice, data, and TV. In particular, every sleeping room must be wired with at least one TV outlet.
