Who is eligible for the DirecTV at NU service?
Currently, DirecTV at NU is available to faculty and staff for use in common areas, such as classrooms, lounge areas, conference rooms, and cafeterias. DirecTV at NU is also available to for common areas in Greek houses.
Residence halls and NU affiliates are currently not eligible.
Which campus is the DirecTV at NU service offered?
Chicago and Evanston.
Who can order the DirecTV at NU television service?
Only faculty and staff who are authorized work order contacts can order the DirecTV at NU service via the Campus TeleVideo Institutional Sign-Up form.
Do I need to install a satellite dish on my building?
No. The service is delivered over the University network and does not require faculty and staff to own a physical satellite dish. DirecTV satellite dishes and other management equipment will be housed by NUIT. Users will only need an active data circuit (dedicated for DirecTV-use only), DirecTV receiver, and a television to access DirecTV at NU.
How does DirecTV at NU differ from NUTV and Cable TV?
DirecTV at NU offers both standard and high-definition satellite programming to faculty and staff over the University network. NUTV is available for all faculty, staff, and students across the campus community on multicast-enabled, switched network connections. In addition, NUIT can coordinate the installation of cable TV services to administrative and academic (non-residence) buildings on the Evanston campus. Simply put, DirecTV offers an expanded channel package and the option for high-definition programming.What are the costs for the service?

Can I charge the service set up cost to my NU Financials Chart of Accounts number?
Yes. Initial NUIT-specific startup fees (data circuit installation) can be charged to a NU Financials Chart of Accounts number via the CONDUITS Online Order Form. DirecTV-specific charges and monthly charges will be billed from the DirecTV vendor, Campus TeleVideo.
How do I place my order for DirecTV at NU?
A dedicated, working data circuit will need to be available for DirecTV at NU use only. A departmental work order contact will need to order one through the CONDUITS Online Order Form. Additional wiring, referred to as a "wire pull", may be required for an additional fee. Once a data circuit is available and has been provisioned for DirecTV, the work order contact will need to contact the DirecTV vendor, Campus TeleVideo, to order DirecTV service.
Existing data circuits can be re-provisioned for DirecTV at NU via the CONDUITS Online Order Form.
What can I expect after I place my order for DirecTV?
After your DirecTV-dedicated data circuit is available and your order is placed with Campus TeleVideo, you should receive your DirecTV receiver within five to seven business days.
I have my receiver; how do I complete installation and set-up?
Refer to the installation guides for the Standard Definition Receiver and High-Definition Receiver once your receiver is available.
What channels are included in the standard and high-definition channel packages?
How can I order a different channel package?
Customers wishing to enhance the channel lineup can contact Campus TeleVideo to submit a request. Currently, Pay Per View programming is not available for DirecTV at NU.
With what devices am I able to view DirecTV at NU?
You can view standard definition receiver content with any device that has a composite analog video or S-Video input.
You can view high-definition receiver content with any device that has a composite analog video, S-Video, component high-definition video, or HDMI high-definition video input.
Is DVR service available with DirecTV at NU?
DVR service is currently not available with DirecTV at NU services.
How do I disconnect my DirecTV at NU service?
Use the CONDUITS Online Order Form to process a disconnect request. NOTE: DirecTV vendor Campus TeleVideo charges a $100 cancellation fee if service is disconnected before one year.
Can I keep the DirecTV set top box after I cancel the television service?
Yes. Because you purchased the box upon activation, you may keep it after service is disconnected.
Can I transfer ownership of my DirecTV at NU access card?
Yes. You must contact Campus TeleVideo to facilitate an access card ownership transfer. A $25 fee applies. If you are transferring ownership to an NU user, you will need to do so via the CONDUITS Online Order Form.
What is the warranty period for the DirecTV set top box?
The DirecTV warranty period is one year. DirecTV will replace defective units within that one year at no additional charge.
Is there a replacement cost for a damaged, vandalized, or a lost DirecTV set top box?
If the set top box is damaged or becomes defective after the one year warranty period, a replacement charge of $100 for standard definition boxes and $200 for high-definition boxes will be charged to the customer.
Is there a replacement cost for a damaged or lost remote control?
The cost of a replacement remote control is $15 and charged to the customer from DirecTV.
