The University will archive Webcasts for its historical record, with streamed Webcasts retained for at least one year on a streaming server, and master tapes stored in the University Library's Multimedia Center.
Copyrighted Materials Policy
Copyrights and trademarks can be used in Webcasting productions, and their use is protected by the U.S. Fair Use provision of copyright law. Regardless, organizers must certify that they have the right to present this material. It is their obligation to obtain any permission forms necessary in order to use copyrighted material. In the event of an infringement claim, organizers will defend and indemnify Northwestern University.
Webcasting Production Policy
Webcast events must follow all the same rules as film production. All necessary permits will be required for outside filming and filming in public places.
Billing Policy
Once an event is confirmed with a Webcasting specialist, organizers will be billed for 50% of the estimated costs, due upon receipt. A final invoice will be sent upon the project's completion.
Cancellation Policy
At times, NUIT may need to contract with an external vendor to provide Webcasting services. For this reason, organizers should e-mail NUIT's Webcasting group at least five business days in advance of a scheduled event to cancel a Webcast. Please note that organizers are responsible for paying the 50% deposit should they cancel an event less than five business days in advance.
