January 2020 – Work continues in preparation for the implementation of the upgraded WebSSO system beginning February 29. A web page has been created to assist the Northwestern Community prepare for the upgrade, including a preview of the new login experience. WebSSO Upgrade Overview

The Web Single Sign-On (WebSSO) system at Northwestern is a crucial infrastructure product that supports secure login access to over 600 applications and websites combined. This project will upgrade the current WebSSO system, powered by OpenAM, to the latest vendor version (6.5), in a phased approach, concluding on July 31, 2020.

Goals and Objectives


The project has three primary phases:

To ensure continuity of IT services, the current WebSSO system will run in parallel with the new version until all applications and websites are upgraded.

A Project Steering Committee has been created and meets monthly throughout the project.
