Project Status

August 2020 – The WebSSO System Upgrade project is now complete. This upgrade occurred in a phased approach with multiple groups and individuals involved in more than 217 implementations across the university. Thank you all for your contributions to this high priority project over the last year.

Overview

The Web Single Sign-On (WebSSO) system at Northwestern is a crucial infrastructure product that supports secure login access to over 600 applications and websites combined. This project will upgrade the current WebSSO system, powered by OpenAM, to the latest vendor version (6.5), in a phased approach, concluding on July 31, 2020.

The project has three primary phases:

To ensure continuity of IT services, the current WebSSO system will run in parallel with the new version until all applications and websites are upgraded.

A Project Steering Committee has been created and meets monthly throughout the project.
