Early Careers in Technology (ECT) is a staff organization at Northwestern committed to providing resources, support, and knowledge to IT staff who are starting their careers at the University or are new to the field of Information Technology.
Activities
Meetings are held on the last Wednesday of the month and offer opportunities for leadership and professional development including:
- Guest speakers
- Workshops
- Lunch and learns
Other programming includes:
- Game days
- Book clubs
- Mentorship program
- Volunteer events

Mentorship Program
The ECT Mentorship Program offers opportunities for the Northwestern IT associates to connect with volunteer mentors of greater experience levels.
Volunteer mentors are paired with their mentees to provide valuable support and guidance as their mentees progress in their new careers at Northwestern. The mentorship program allows mentees to develop and build relationships within their department as well as teams from other departments.
