Visualization Competition

The Visualization Competition is an opportunity for you to showcase your images, animations, and interactive data visualizations. The competition is open to Northwestern students and postdocs. All areas of research and levels of visualizations are welcome. Three winners will receive $500 VISA gift cards.

Eligibility

Postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduate students at Northwestern are eligible to submit their visualization(s).

Submission Guidelines

Presentations at CRD

Winners will present their visualizations at Computational Research Day from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in Northwestern Room B. See conference agenda.

Each presentation will be allotted eight minutes total (including time for questions). The presentation should briefly describe the research motivating the visualization and how the visualization was generated. 

Conference Proceedings

This year, presenters will be invited to publish their research in the conference proceedings. The proceedings will be published online by Northwestern University Libraries. Publishing your research in the proceedings is not required for presenting at the conference. Learn more about Digital Publishing Services.

Prizes

All contestants will be eligible for prizes. One winner from each of the three categories will be selected by the judges, and each will receive a $500 VISA gift card.  

Winners will be notified on or before April 6 (to allow time to prepare a short presentation during Computational Research Day). Prizes will be distributed during the Awards Presentation during the Researchers’ Reception at 4:15 p.m. in the Louis Room.
