Nowell Arnold

Associate Director, Information Security; Deputy CISO, Information Security


Nowell Arnold joined Northwestern in June, 2018 as Deputy Chief Information Security Officer. He works closely with business and technology leaders across the University to assess and manage information security risks; provides key support in identifying and managing the complete lifecycle of the University’s security technology; and oversees staff and daily operations of the Information Security Office of Northwestern IT. Prior to this, Nowell held progressively increasing roles in information security and networking positions in the financial services sector. Nowell is a Certified Information System Security Professional with a degree in Analytical Chemistry.

Steve Mankowski

Information Security Analyst Lead


Steve Mankowski joined Northwestern in December 2020 as an Information Security Analyst Lead. He has 15+ years of experience in Information Security coming from the Healthcare and Legal industries. Steve is a Certified Information System Security Professional. In his previous roles, he was responsible for Security across the entire environment, including working with business units to secure their applications.  He has expertise in setting up next-gen firewalls, endpoint security, SIEM, and vulnerability management programs.

Dustin Cooley

Information Security Analyst, Information Security


Dustin joined Northwestern in May 2019. He has approximately six years of Information Security experience in a corporate setting. His experience includes nation/state incident response, event correlation using top SIEM tools and services, forensic acquisition and investigation, threat/vulnerability management and mitigation, endpoint security, and next-gen firewall name a few. He is working towards a Master's degree program at DePaul University, majoring in Network Engineering and Security.

Christine Hardt

Information Security Analyst, Information Security


Christine Hardt joined Northwestern in April 2020, as an Information Security Analyst. She has two years of experience in Information Security in the defense contractor setting, focusing primarily on compliance and the maintenance, certification, and accreditation of computer networks. Additionally, she has worked as a Cryptologic Technician in the US Navy Reserves since 2012, where her experience includes targeting an Advanced Persistent Threat and providing timely, actionable intelligence.
