Research Computing Workshops

Northwestern IT Research Computing Services collaborates with campus partners to offer members of the Northwestern research community opportunities to develop data and computing skills, as well as learn about the services and resources that support research activities on campus. Workshops are offered on both the Evanston and Chicago campuses throughout the year.

Workshop Information

Workshop Series Description Workshop Length Campus
Computational Skills for Researchers Programming, data analysis, using Quest, and other technical skills 1 – 3 hours Evanston
The Researcher’s Toolkit Working with data, publishing and archiving research, geographic information systems (GIS), managing research resources, and more. Taught in collaboration with Northwestern Library. 1 – 1.5 hours Evanston
Computational Skills for Informatics General and domain specific computational topics in bioinformatics and genomics. Taught in collaboration with Galter Health Sciences Library and NUCATS. 1 – 2 hours Chicago
Summer Workshops on Data Science and Programming Programming, data analysis, and visualization in R and Python, SQL and databases, the command line, and other computational topics. ½ day – 3 days Evanston and Chicago

Research Computing Services staff can also provide customized or on-demand training sessions when requested by members of the university community or in partnership with other organizations. Contact Research Computing Services to discuss availability.
