University Email Moving to the Cloud Beginning April 15

Posted Date: 11 Apr 2019

Effective Date: 15 Apr 2019

This month, Northwestern IT will begin working with schools and units across the University to transition campus Email (Exchange) to the Office 365 Cloud environment. The transition is scheduled to begin Monday, April 15, and continue on a rolling basis over the next several months until all faculty and staff email boxes are successfully migrated.

Northwestern IT is partnering with Technology Leaders in the schools and units to ensure a smooth transition and align our communication efforts. In advance of each migration period, impacted faculty and staff will receive multiple emails, including a message from Northwestern IT providing them with a specific migration date as well as links to support articles related to updating applications and mobile devices.

About the Overall Project

Northwestern IT’s project to move collaboration services to Microsoft’s Office 365 Cloud environment began over a year ago with the successful transition of SharePoint sites. Since that time, Northwestern IT has prepared the on-premises Exchange email environment to transition to Office 365. Preparations included partnering with Technology Leaders representing University schools and units to build a cohort of early adopters to evaluate and provide feedback about their migration experience.
