Changes to Online Passport and Multi-factor Authentication Coming February 29

Posted Date: 29 Jan 2020

Effective Date: 29 Jan 2020

Northwestern Information Technology (IT) is upgrading the University's Web Single Sign-On (WebSSO) system, Online Passport, in a phased approach, beginning with services and systems like myHR, NUFinancials, CAESAR, Webex, Canvas, Box, GlobalProtect VPN, and more on February 29.

As part of the upgrade, users will notice an updated “look and feel” to both the Online Passport and Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) login page experiences.

New MFA Login Experience

On February 29, a new version of the MFA login page—which features more options for self-service—will be applied to existing MFA-enabled systems, including myHR, NUFinancials, CAESAR, Webex, and GlobalProtect VPN. Other applications with MFA (e.g., Cognos) will receive the new login page as their WebSSO is upgraded. Below, please view a side-by-side comparison of the new MFA experience.

Two Online Passport and MFA Versions

Because the WebSSO upgrade is taking place in phases and on a rolling basis through July, there is a five-month window of time where users will encounter both the current and upgraded versions of Online Passport and MFA, depending on the application they are accessing.
