Posted Date: 10 Dec 2020

Modified Date: 26 Mar 2021

Effective Date: 10 Dec 2020

In recent months, the number of Northwestern Zoom meetings being recorded to Zoom's cloud storage service has increased exponentially. To stay within contracted Zoom cloud storage limits, Northwestern IT is introducing a Zoom recording storage retention process. On January 20, 2021, all Zoom cloud recordings made before September 14, 2020, will be moved to the Zoom Trash. Users will be able to recover recordings in the Zoom Trash for 30 days.

This action will be repeated in the spring. On April 14, 2021, all Zoom cloud recordings made before January 1, 2021, will be moved to the Zoom Trash. This schedule is posted on the Zoom Conferencing Service web page. Users are encouraged to record only those meetings for University business and be mindful that storage is limited when choosing to record a meeting to Zoom's cloud.
