What's New and Changing

"nuwlan" Wireless Replaced by "Northwestern" Network

Posted Date: 13 Jul 2007

Effective Date: 01 Sep 2007

An important change to campus wireless networks takes place September 1, 2007: the network "nuwlan" will no longer appear as an available network. Wireless users should switch to the more convenient wireless network, named "Northwestern".

The upgraded "Northwestern" network provides quick, automatic wireless connections without a VPN login.

The "nuwlan" wireless network will continue to be available at the Norris University Center, at some areas of Kellogg, for guest access, and for computers unable to connect to "Northwestern" due to hardware limitations. For instructions, contact your local technical support specialist or the NUIT Support Center at 847-491-HELP (4357) or consultant@northwestern.edu.

It is easy and convenient to use the "Northwestern" wireless network when using NUIT's setup instructions. Mac and Vista-based laptops will find a seamless connection to "Northwestern" when searching for available networks. For Windows XP-based laptops, NUIT provides a wireless configuration wizard to set up your computer automatically.
